Interesting Notes about Coral Bark Maple:

The Coral Bark Maple is hardy tree that is a focal point for all seasons. Winter interest is provided by the coral-colored bark and stems that are almost inflorescent in contrast to snow or neighboring evergreen plants.  As spring arrives the branching is wrapped in light green leaves that turn into shades of red, orange and gold in summer into fall.  This is a tough tree that is not fussy about soil types, but it should be planted in protected areas to reduce dieback of limbs.  The tree does produce fruit which are referred to as samaras (or helicopters) that mature in fall.
