Yucca filamentosa

Adam's Needle

Tips for Homeowners:

At the very least the flower stalks could be removed if desired (this practice does encourage future generations) and if the occasional leaf that turns brown is bothersome it can also be removed.

Interesting Notes about Adam's Needle:

Yucca is not only a broadleaf evergreen, but a succulent as well. The sword-like foliage and tall flower stalks are easily identified and popular in landscapes and perennial gardens. They will grow in dry soils and prefer to be dry, rather than moist. In fact, it thrives in drought conditions. A Yucca will grow in slightly shady locations, but prefers full on sun. The flower of the Yucca can sometimes take a while to appear, which is quite normal.
