Old flowers can be removed if desired, but it is not necessary. Feed with a high nitrogen fertilizer every 2-4 weeks to promote new flowers. Powdery mildew may become a problem late in the season depending on the weather.

Interesting Notes about Blanket Flower:

Although Blanket Flower can be a short-lived perennial, it's best to treat it as an annual in Kansas. It will provide abundant flowers, and especially thrives in the western Kansas climate. This plant does not like soils that remain wet and that consist of heavy clay.
