Interesting Notes about Sugar Hackberry:

A native tree in southern regions of the U.S. growing along streams and floodplains, this tough tree has proven its tolerance to a wide range of soils.  It does produce fruit that are favored by a wide variety of birds and wildlife.  The birds will eat the fleshy part of the fruit and will then disperse the seeds as birds do.  Some hackberry tree or shrubs are prone to witch's broom, but this species is resistant.
