German or Bearded Iris are categorized according to their bloom time in relation to the height of the plant. Short iris bloom first (early), intermediate iris bloom a little later (mid-season) and tall bloom last, generally ending by mid-June (late). There are exceptions so it is recommended to plant samples of each to extend the season of color. There are also reblooming varieties that will bloom in summer and later in the fall.
